You know how, as a first-time parent, people are always telling you that you will learn something new everyday? Well, recently, I have come to realized something kinda awesome about myself: I'm crafty/artsy! Now to give you a little background on me: I'm the kid who could never draw or pain in art class, who always buys premade gifts so I don't have to (i.e. I couldn't), and whose idea of sprucing up a gift bag is to just stick some tissue paper in the top. I've never been the type to get excited about crafts and art projects or anything like that but the craft bug bit me right before Mackenzie's birthday. I wanted to buy a really cute tutu set for her birthday party but timing was running short to buy it and get it shipped here in time. So, long story short, I decided to try my hand at making it myself! I mosied on over to Hobby Lobby, bought 4 different colors (for her Princess & The Frog theme), and went to work! Well, I didn't realize that cutting the strips takes forever! Luckily, I have a great hubby who helped me out after Mackenzie was down for the night. I finally got it done and here is the end result:
The colors are purple, dark green, lime green, and white. It's not professional by any means but it was my first true art project and I'm proud of it! Well, after that I went into overdrive and now I have all these ideas of things I want to make for Mackenzie. I've already made another tutu (light/dark pink) and I'm getting ready to paint wooden letters to hang up in her room! I'm super excited about it and can't wait to share the photos with you!
